I didn't want to rush into my final collection year as such as I still feel my creativity skills needs more exploring to enhance a better performance of my final collection pieces. So I took the opportunity by both hands and searched and SEARCHED! And applied... and APPLIED for many job opportunities, some for high fashion designers, some for boutiques and retail, and others for anything that meant FASHION RELATED.
Students (like myself) who have experienced finding a placement will understand it takes attraction, a hard working portfolio and the strength and ability to capture a designers perspective on how much you can embrace your talent within a particular area of a jobs role.
When people tell me the fashion industry is a DOG EAT DOG WORLD, you start to wonder... and you do begin to doubt yourself to think "Am I good enough?" "Why hasn't anyone replied to my emails?" "What can I do to make these designers like ME and MY STYLE of creativity and focus towards the fashion industry?"... Don't let others belittle your ambitions. BELIEVE in yourself, PUSH YOUR BOUNDARIES and illustrate your strengths and weaknesses. There's still space for improvement and this is what I've come to realize...
IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO LEARN, NO ONE CAN HELP YOU.
IF YOU ARE DETERMINED TO LEARN... NO ONE CAN STOP YOU!
-A little wise lady spoke whilst riding the local bus home this morning.
This is it. This is my time to shine, my time to show the lovely Kiran from RedRock what I can produce on and off the body, style and inflict on reconstructing previous garments into something current and on trend.
RedRock is based in Northampton, (a little further away from home... ) ***An online fashion label by designer Kiran Lall*** illustrating reworked vintage and secondhand garments pieces originating from the swingin' sixties to the grungin' nineties!
QUOTE; RedRock has already secured rails at some of the hottest** boutiques and has recieved national press including Sew Hip Magazine, Drapers Online and Company Magazine. REDROCK also put on their first ever fashion show in London's infamous Brick Lane. Our designs have been requested by the likes of Peaches Geldoff, Paloma Faith, Elen Rivas, Lauren Pope, Audrey Kitching, Tali Lennox and is adored by an army of fashion forward bloggers. The label is also proud to be in association with Oxfam.
And the night is still young yet.
HOW VERY EXCITING!? Monday the 10th of September needs to get in my belly!
